Welcome to my February Holidays!
It has taken me several years to finally get around to updating all of these seasonal pages. Some of them have been fairly quick and easy and I began to wonder why I had procrastinated so long. When I got to February, I remembered. There are currently 6 pages for February. There are many sites no longer in existance, so I do not have links for some of the adoptions and treasures.
Here is a list of holidays in Febraury that I celebrate.
- February 1: Feast of Brigid, Imbolc
- February 2: Groundhog Day
- Febraury 14: Valentine's Day
The word "February" is derived from the Latin word "februa", a Roman purification feast ceremony.. The gem for February is amethyst (for sincerity and wealth) and the flower is primrose (for peace of mind).
Imbolc is a Celtic term for "lactating ewe" and is also known as the Feast of Brigid. Brigid was the secondary patron of Ireland. This is a celebration of light as the days are getting longer and spring is drawing near. In some places, including some in which I have lived, February can be bitterly cold; however, there are usually some small signs that spring will return.
For years, I ignored Valentine's Day and even celebrated my own anti-
Valentine's Day. Bah humbug. I just thought it was stupid. Anytime Valentine's Day fell on a Friday 13, I was even more thrilled. Even though I still do not agree with the commercialization of any holiday, I do think I have a newfound enjoyment for this particular holiday. My true love is a prince among men.
To care for the faeries of February, Iolanthe, the Guardian of Divine Emotions, is here.
Meet Aphrodite, goddess of love. I used to spend a lot of time at Saya's World ....
I am fortunate to have several Limited Edition Pixies joining me here to help celebrate Love and Light in February. I have several from a few years, then I skipped a few. The latest couple have arrived just this year (2005).
And, meet Cynthia
Ok. It's not Halloween. So why are these vampire fae here??? Well, I love hanging out at Saya's World. She has some very interesting things for adoption. These vampire fae look like they are ready for valentines' day, no? I thought they would be right at home here. They are LeRoy and Lady Carmen.
There are actually more faeries to visit
