Welcome to my November Holiday

Gosh, I really didn't have much going on for the November Holiday on the old pages. I hope that I can do a bit more this time.

Here is a list of holidays in November that I celebrate.

The word "November" is derived from the Latin word 'novem' which means 'nine'. November was the 9th month in the Roman calendar. The gem for November is topaz (for goodness and friendship) and the flower is chrysanthemum (for cheerfulness).

Although Autumn is my favorite time of year, for a very long time, I didn't really like Thanksgiving. I didn't like thinking about people coming over to this country and taking it away from the natives and that is how I always thought of the holiday. I also didn't particularly like the foods generally associated with this feast. Over time, I began to appreciate the warm family time, and I learned to adopt my own variations of some of the traditional foods. Furthermore, I began to realize it wasn't really about being thankful that we took this land as our own, but about being thankful for the bountiful harvest and for friends and family.

For that reason, I have asked Tiffany, Guardian of Warm Hearts, to watch over this holiday section. I actually used to have Tiffany in another area of my site, but I think she will be most effective here.

This is a quiet faery and no one remembers when she arrived or from when she came. Nevertheless, she loves November and certainly brightens things up around here.
