October Holidays

Welcome to my October Holiday!

Without a doubt, October is the month favored by all of the dwellers in this enchanted land. There are a lot of reasons for that, and as you journey on, those reasons will be revealed to you.

Here is a list of holidays in October that I celebrate.

October 14: My Wedding Anniversary
October 15: My Birthday
October 31: Samhain and Halloween
October: Breast Cancer Awareness

The word "October" is derived from the Latin word 'octo' which means 'eight'. The gem for October is opal (for hope and confidence) and the flower is cosmos (for friendship).

Ok, so my wedding anniversary and my birthday are not really important to all of the travelers passing through, but I can assure you these are important celebrations to all of the citizens living within these lands. Halloween has always been my most favorite holiday. I love everything about it and if I had to pick a particular favorite thing about it, I don't think I could do so. I have also always enjoyed horror movies, books, etc. etc. etc. I like being scared (at least, when I know it is not for real). Why is it that horror and Halloween go hand in hand?

Samhain falls around October 31 or November 1 and marks the beginning of the winter half of the year. Harvest is over. People begin gathering within for the long winter. On Samhain Eve, the barriers between the worlds of life and death open. This is a time to honor those who have departed.

Danielle and Heather are the Guardians of this holiday month. Danielle protects the souls of departed children and Heather guards the souls of departed friends.
