Welcome to my September Holiday!

Here is a list of holidays in September that I celebrate.

The word "September" is derived from the Latin word 'septem' which means 'seven'. Until the year 153 BCE, September was the 7th month in the Roman calendar. The gem for September is sapphire (for truth and calmness) and the flower is morning glory (for affection).

Ah. September! For most people, that means back to school. Actually, I suppose that really happens in August for a lot of people. But September is when we think of 'back to school'. I like the memories I have of going back to school. I loved getting the new packets with all the school supplies. I spent over 24 years of my life attending school, and then 10 years teaching at a university, so the 'back to school' mentality is deeply ingrained in my psyche.

The Autumn Equinox (sometimes called Mabon) is the official beginning of Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. Coming at the end of grain harvest, this holiday is celebrated as a thanksgiving

So, in honor of all those going back to school, here is Giselle, Guardian of Students. She is joined by Audrey, the Autumn Guardian.

Memorial Ribbon On 11 sep 2001, 4 planes were hijacked. Two crashed into the World Trade Center in New York, 1 crashed into the Pentagon, and 1 crashed in rural Pennsylvania. This was a senseless act of violence against humanity. On that day, I took down my website (as did many others) to show my grief and sadness. I have created a 911 Tribute Page that you can visit.

When I was really active in The Site Fights, Noah's Ark (a team at The Site Fights) had a Back to School Party for the whole month of September. So, I went on over and picked up a few essentials. Remember me saying that I loved getting new school supplies?
